Distillers of Pennsylvania

LET’S MIX IT UP

Giving PA Limited Distillers a voice in Harrisburg and across the Commonwealth

About.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS

The Limited Distillers of PA is an emerging organization that is joining together distillers from across the commonwealth.

The Limited Distillers of Pennsylvania will work to elevate industry priorities and create a common voice to advocate for state resources towards marketing, research or industry wide equipment that align with the rules and regulations imposed on it by the Department of Agriculture and the PLCB.

We will gather allies and enlist support within the PA Legislature and Commonwealth Agencies to ensure consumers have better access to our products and members are aware of pending policies, regulations and legislation with the goal of fair Commonwealth policies for all.

The Limited Distillers of PA is a self-run 501 (c) (6) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting this growing industry across the State.

WHERE WE’RE FIGHTING FOR YOU

One of the main reasons for membership in LDP is the need for a voice in Harrisburg on the important issues that face our industry. Your membership provides the resources to advocate on LDP’s behalf on legislative issues as well as provide consulting on LCB and even BLCE questions and concerns.

The list of priorities is ever changing but for today we see the following as issues important to the Limited Distillers of PA.

  1. Equal funding on marketing/grant dollars from the LCB: Currently the legislature, through the LCB, provides one million dollars in funding to the PA Wine Board and the PA Beer Board for marketing, research and even equipment on a yearly basis. Grants are approved by the respective Board and finalized/administrated by the LCB. The distiller’s industry deserves to funded in the same manner.
  2. Listing and De-listing of PA produced spirits: The system has changed in regards to factors considered in listing and de-listing PA spirits. Communication and consistency are important components in assuring LCB policy that is fair and in tune with the mission of the LCB to assist PA companies an equal opportunity to reach PA consumers through the State Store system.
  3. Rules and Regulations for PA Limited Distillers: The LCB is currently rewriting the rules and regulations for the industry. A proper review by this group and all Limited Distillers needs to occur to ensure proper and fair regulations are installed.
  4. RTD Production and Sales: The RTD business is booming. We need to ensure PA producers have as much access to PA consumers as the National and International producers. Currently there is legislation in the PA Senate Law and Justice Committee that would expand outlets for RTDs either through the Beer Distribution channel or the LCB. Grocery stores and other WEPs would be permitted to sell RTDs up to 12% ABV.
  5. LCB/ERP issues: Communication from the LCB has been lacking in regards to their new ERP system, how it affects LOOP, new product introduction, pricing changes, etc. It’s important to have a voice in the NW Office Building to share our concerns and receive regular updates on the continued rollout of this system and overall LCB policy and actions.
